David Cumming & Jane Gordon established Define Wine Marketing & Communications in 2005.
Since this time, the business has grown and evolved in to one of Australia’s leading wine marketing and communications businesses.
David Cumming has substantial experience in the wine industry. From the age of seven, time was spent planting, pruning, spraying and picking grapes on his family’s cool climate vineyard in the central highlands of NSW.
After completing a Bachelor of Business (Agricultural Commerce), David held marketing and management roles with Rothbury, Southcorp Wines, Barossa Valley Estate, BRL Hardy Ltd and Xanadu Normans Wine Group.
David has extensive experience with small wine businesses, having established Next Generation Wines (NXG) with two partners. In its second year this export only business was awarded the Business SA Regional Exporter of the Year. NXG was subsequently sold to Xanadu Wines in Margaret River.
David was also a co-founder of Fox Gordon Wines, a boutique winemaker specialising in premium Barossa and Adelaide Hills wines.
David has written articles for a number of publications including a weekly wine column for the Central Western Daily from 2005 to 2010. Other articles have appeared in Blue Mountains Life and Australian Wine Business Monthly.
In 2018, David co-founded The Lane Cellars, an independent bottle shop in Orange, specialising in local, premium wines and craft beers.
Jane Gordon has extensive business experience across a broad range of areas.
She was one of the eponymous founding directors of Fox Gordon Wines and has extensive experience working in the financial, agriculture and mining sectors. Jane holds a Bachelor of Business and Diploma of Financial Planning.
